Today is the first blogday of a real male Bridget Jones living in Malaysia. I hope you will enjoy my (or lack of) adventures.

Malaysia.. a land of multiple cultures and also taboos. Where the people are hoped to the chaste but somethings (mostly) not. Where Desperate Housewives are really most people.

I am single and grieving. And with good chinese culture shunned.

O let me explain - some Feng Shui. When someone dies, Feng Shui believes the spirit of the dead will follow the nearest living. So being in contact with the bereaved is bad feng shui. People have to avoid you for between 3 months to 3 years.

Assume you are the daughter of Shelly Winters. For the first 3 months, you are dirty with a dead person. So no one should visit or you visit anyone.

Next you should not celebrate the New Year for a year. You bring bad omens for a year.
Oh yes, no sex for 3 years.

Rubbish isnt it. Yes they call it Taoist beliefs.

OK. When I die I will become a pontainak (banshee) and I will torment all the gambling shops. Hahaha if you believe such rubbish. Here is Penang, spirit belief is big business.

Have you seen any of the Japanese or Korean horror flims? If you are a single woman and you die, you will become an evil spirit and you will haunt the living. I am male but maybe I want to become a pontainak when I die to haunt all these selffish people.

By the way. I am a Christian.... and we are shunned too but the Taoist.
